Compare the approaches
A tracker gives you the count. Vercatus shows why.
Trackers, SEO suites, agency audits and in-house scripts each do part of the job. This page shows which part, row by row, and where one of them is the better buy.
| Approach | Measure | Explain | Act | Judge |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Vercatus | 100% | 100% | 67% | 100% |
| Tracker | 33% | 17% | 0% | 33% |
| SEO suite | 33% | 17% | 17% | 33% |
| Agency | 0% | 33% | 50% | 0% |
| Scripts | 33% | 33% | 0% | 33% |
Four other ways.
Each good at a part.
Each is a reasonable choice for part of the problem. None was built for the whole loop, from the answer to a verdict on the change.
Mention tracker
A dashboard of how often an assistant names or links you, over a set of prompts.
Cheap, fast to set up, and clear about whether a number moved.
SEO suite
Keyword, rank, backlink and site-crawl data, with AI visibility added as a module.
Search data at scale: keyword volumes, rankings, links and technical crawls.
Agency audit
Experts review the site once, or on a retainer, and write the plan.
Judgment, context about your business, and people who can make the changes.
In-house scripts
Your engineers call the engines' APIs and log the answers themselves.
Full control of the questions, the data and where it goes.
Who does what,
row by row.
Measure, explain, act, judge the result. Partly means some products in the category do some of it. The rows where an alternative wins stay in.

The same comparison in words: what you get, what backs it, how you know it worked
| Difference | Vercatus | Mention tracker | SEO suite | Agency audit | In-house scripts |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| What you get | Answer Share, the reasons behind it, plays with drafts, and verdicts | Counts over time, and alerts when they move | Search data, with an AI visibility module beside it | A document, or people's time on a retainer | A log of answers, in the shape you built |
| What sits behind a recommendation | The answers, the pages engines read, the searches they run, and a graded source | A number that moved | Search metrics and general best practice | The team's experience | Whatever you build on top |
| What it costs | A fixed monthly price per plan, set by topics; nothing metered | A monthly fee, usually the smallest here | A monthly fee, often per seat or per project | A fee per engagement, or a monthly retainer | Engineering time, API bills and upkeep |
| How you know it worked | A verdict against topics left alone, within 45 days | The number moved, for reasons unknown | Rankings moved, if the change was about search | The next audit, months later | Whatever test you write |
When to choose
something else.
A comparison that wins every row is a brochure. Here is where we would say the same on a call, and the moments that make teams move to the whole loop.
Choose something else when
- Choose a tracker. When you only need to know whether a number moved, and you already know why it moves. That question has cheaper answers than this one.
- Keep your SEO suite. For keyword research, rank tracking and backlink data, which Vercatus does not do. Many teams run both: the suite for search, Vercatus for AI answers.
- Choose an agency. When nobody on your side has time to make the changes. Vercatus writes the play and the draft; someone still has to ship it. An agency can run Vercatus for you.
- Keep your scripts. When you need one narrow measurement, owned end to end by your engineers, and you have the time to maintain it as the engines change.
- Choose nothing yet. When customers do not find you through a search box or an assistant, or when you cannot change anything this quarter. Both are good reasons to wait.
Teams switch when
- The count dropped, and nobody knew why. Why shows what the engine remembers, the pages it reads and who they name, and the searches it runs. From a tracker
- One number hid the engine you were losing. Answer Share is read per engine, with its range, against the brands each one picks instead. From a blended score
- The report was stale by the next release. The poll keeps asking, so the plays describe the answers buyers get now. From an audit
- The pipeline broke when an engine changed. Every engine measured for you, through its own app or search, and kept running. From scripts
- Nobody could say whether the change worked. Every shipped play gets a verdict within 45 days, against topics left alone. From any of them
- Advice was general, and engines are not. Vercatus Intelligence learns which plays move which engine, from verdicts across sites. From best practice
Named products,
in dated articles.
A comparison that names a product lives in its own article, with dated sources and plan-specific limits, so it can be checked and corrected.

Talk to salesIs Vercatus a tracker?
It measures what a tracker measures: Answer Share on your topics, on 10 engines, with its range and your competitors on the same scale. Then it does what a count cannot: shows why the engines pick someone else, hands you the exact change with a draft, and gives every shipped change a verdict against topics left alone.
Does Vercatus replace our SEO suite?
No. Keep it for keyword research, rank tracking and backlink data, which Vercatus does not do. Vercatus covers AI answers: who they recommend, why, and what to change so they recommend you.
Can we use Vercatus with our agency?
Yes. An agency can run the workspace for you, or take the plays and drafts as its brief. Portfolio covers several sites with white-label briefs, and viewer seats for clients are free.
What does this category comparison cover?
The columns compare approaches. Partly means some products in the category do some of it. Named product comparisons are published separately with dated sources and plan-specific limits.
