Text compression
Text resources (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JSON, SVG) should be served compressed: MDN notes compression can shrink some documents by up to 70%, and Lighthouse recommends Brotli because it reduces file size more than gzip or deflate (it flags text responses over 1.4 KiB where compression would save at least 10%). An uncompressed response is visible in Resource Timing as encodedBodySize equal to decodedBodySize.

AGrade A: official documentation or a standard. A grade describes the provenance of the sources above; it is not a probability that a change will work. The effect basis says how the size of the effect is known: measured by a study, taken from an industry report, only documented without a size, or not quantified.
