Incentivized review disclosure
Since 24 July 2026 Google's review snippet guidelines say not to include fake or undisclosed incentivized reviews on a page or in its structured data. They name reviews not based on a genuine experience of the product or service, and reviews written in exchange for a benefit (money, discounts, vouchers or free products) that do not clearly and prominently disclose the incentive. This sits beside the older rules that self-serving reviews of a business on its own site are ineligible for star review features and that marked-up reviews must be visible on the page.

AGrade A: official documentation or a standard. A grade describes the provenance of the sources above; it is not a probability that a change will work. The effect basis says how the size of the effect is known: measured by a study, taken from an industry report, only documented without a size, or not quantified.
