HTML size limits
Googlebot crawls only the first 2 MB of an HTML page or other supported non-PDF file and the first 64 MB of a PDF; the limit applies to uncompressed data and, per Google's March 2026 blog post, includes the HTTP headers. Bytes past the cutoff are not fetched, rendered or indexed. Each referenced CSS or JavaScript resource is fetched separately under its own 2 MB limit; Google crawlers that set no limit default to 15 MB.

AGrade A: official documentation or a standard. A grade describes the provenance of the sources above; it is not a probability that a change will work. The effect basis says how the size of the effect is known: measured by a study, taken from an industry report, only documented without a size, or not quantified.
