VercatusDiscover core update 2026
On 5 February 2026 Google released the February 2026 Discover core update, the first core update aimed at Discover alone. Google said it would show users more locally relevant content from websites based in their country, show less sensational content and clickbait, and show more in-depth, original and timely content from sites with expertise in a topic, judged topic by topic; the rollout started with English-language users in the United States, with other countries and languages to follow. Discover's documentation for site owners, updated with it, asks for timely content that tells a story well or gives unique insight, and warns against sensationalism and clickbait that inflate engagement.
