Webmcp page tools
WebMCP lets a web page register tools that an in-browser agent calls directly instead of operating the interface. It is a Draft Community Group Report of the W3C Web Machine Learning Community Group (17 September 2026, editors from Microsoft and Google), not a W3C standard. The draft's entry point is document.modelContext with registerTool(); declarative tools on HTML forms are still marked TODO in the draft. Chrome runs a WebMCP origin trial from Chrome 149 (announced 9 June 2026; it can also be switched on with a flag). Lighthouse's experimental Agentic Browsing category (Chrome 150+) audits registered WebMCP tools and forms that lack declarative WebMCP. Chrome's documentation names no production agent that consumes these tools.

AGrade A: official documentation or a standard. A grade describes the provenance of the sources above; it is not a probability that a change will work. The effect basis says how the size of the effect is known: measured by a study, taken from an industry report, only documented without a size, or not quantified.
