Content credentials c2pa
C2PA Content Credentials bind digitally signed provenance statements (creation, edit actions, capture device) to a media file; the current specification is version 2.4 (April 2026). Google said in September 2024 that About this image would show whether an image carrying C2PA metadata was created or edited with AI tools, and in May 2026 that C2PA verification was rolling out in the Gemini app, coming to Search and Chrome in the following months, while Meta would label camera-captured media with Content Credentials on Instagram.

AGrade A: official documentation or a standard. A grade describes the provenance of the sources above; it is not a probability that a change will work. The effect basis says how the size of the effect is known: measured by a study, taken from an industry report, only documented without a size, or not quantified.
