YMYL standards

Google's rater guidelines (version of 11 September 2025) define YMYL topics as those that could significantly affect people's health, financial stability or safety, or society's welfare, and apply very high page-quality standards to them: informational or advice pages may need a high level of expertise, first-hand experience is acceptable when consistent with expert consensus, and pages are rated Low when it is unclear who created them. Google says its systems give more weight to content with strong E-E-A-T on these topics.

AGrade A: official documentation or a standard. A grade describes the provenance of the sources above; it is not a probability that a change will work. The effect basis says how the size of the effect is known: measured by a study, taken from an industry report, only documented without a size, or not quantified.
